Kingston Joinery celebrate #WICW2021

This week, we are celebrating #womeninconstructionweek2021

Women in Construction Week was founded back in 1953 as a support network for women in our industry. The message has, and will always be, that there is a place for women in construction and, construction should be seen as an avenue for work and to achieve success.

There is a vast shortage of people joining the construction industry, now is the time to take that place and help drive the industry forward.

We asked the ladies in our team for their thoughts on the industry, this is what they had to say:

Sally Overton – Accounts Manager

“No two days are ever the same. I really enjoy the busy working environment and, the satisfaction it brings when faced with the next challenge.”

Olivia Wright – Accounts Assistant

“The industry is ever changing but, I know that I have the support of a very helpful team when I need them. In my time at Kingston Joinery, I have seen that women can progress in a male dominated environment and I have always been treated equally.”

Faye Wilson – Procurement Coordinator

“I like that women have a place in a male dominated industry. There is always something new to learn and, progression encouraged. I feel that I am fortunate to be part of such a strong team and, industry.”

Sarah Rawlings – Supply Chain & Operations Manager

“Construction is ever changing, and the beauty of it is that no day is ever the same. I personally love the rewards this industry offers and seeing the hard work our team puts in to making these projects come to life. It is a sad statistic that less only around 9.9% of workers within the construction industry are women, I would encourage anyone thinking of joining our industry to absolutely DO IT! At Kingston Joinery, everyone has the same opportunities, we are not defined by gender, it is a level playing field where tasks are given to the people that do them the best. If you work hard enough and show dedication to the industry, you really can achieve.”
