Leading UK accommodation developer Torsion Group has turned to the expertise of a growing East Yorkshire specialist for the complete internal joinery fit-outs on two multi-million pound projects.
Melton-based Kingston Joinery says it is delighted to have secured the work, worth more than £1.3m, with the independent development and construction business.
The work will see teams from the East Yorkshire business head to Sheffield for four months and Birmingham for eight months to complete the required work.
First up is the £28m Arden Gate complex in Birmingham, currently under construction and a development which will see 225 luxury apartments housed over nine floors, all finished to the highest specifications.
They are being marketed to buyers and potential investors, with each apartment boasting bespoke kitchens, tasteful living areas and stylish bathrooms which have been ‘designed to provide the ultimate combination of space, comfort and elegance’.
The project is set for completion in November, with Kingston Joinery beginning its £982,000 contract this month and expected to be on site for 32 weeks.
The development is being marketed as a ‘Premium Property Investment’ due to the highest quality of finish and products, and its highly sought-after location in central Birmingham which is surrounded by an abundance of amenities.
Sheffield student accommodation complex will include gym and cinema
Whilst a team from Kingston Joinery continues its work in Birmingham, another team of specialist joiners will head to Sheffield, South Yorkshire, in April.
There, a new eight-storey student accommodation complex is being built by Torsion Group, which has itself seen impressive growth over the past two years, increasing both profit and turnover by 50% in 2017.
That scheme comprises a total of 220 student bedrooms, with 147 cluster bed apartments and 73 studios. It will also include amenity space, study areas, a gym and cinema room, and Kingston Joinery will again complete the full internal joinery fit-out in a £375,000 contract.
Craig O’Leary, Managing Director of Kingston Joinery, which reached a record turnover of £8m in 2018, says he is delighted to have been selected for both contracts, which he believes are testimony to the reputation his company has established for working on the highest standard of developments.
“These two contracts are exactly the type we were looking to secure early in 2019 to ensure we quickly build on the momentum we gained in a very busy 2018,” he said.
“The Arden Gate development in Birmingham in particular is of paramount importance and profile for the Torsion Group given it is the largest contract it has secured in its history, beating off some of the biggest names in construction to secure the work which it is now delivering in partnership with Court Collaboration and Top Capital Group.
“We are very aware that this development is being marketed to property investors as a high quality development finished to exacting standards, as such our team will be installing quality joinery products with a contemporary modern feel”.
“We had previously worked with Torsion, but on projects of a much smaller scale, so we know this is a great opportunity to further enhance our relationship with a company which is growing and we know will win many more major contracts in years to come.”
Other recent accommodation developments on which Kingston Joinery has worked have included ‘The Elements’ in Sheffield for North Midland Construction, ‘The Roost’ – a £16.4m accommodation development for Kier Construction which houses medical staff at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, and the £32m Brass Founders student accommodation complex for Create Construction, also in Sheffield.
